Jildou Silke Bakker is geboren en opgegroeid in Friesland. Vanaf dat ze een klein meisje was, uitte ze haar gedachten al in de vorm van gedichten en verhaaltjes. Als kind kreeg ze gitaarles en al snel zette ze haar gedichten op muziek en schreef ze haar eerste liedjes, vaak geïnspireerd door haar geloof en door de mensen en verhalen om zich heen.

Na de middelbare school besloot Jildou zich serieus te concentreren op haar liedjes en muzikale carrière. Haar (Nederlandstalige) muziek kreeg al snel aandacht binnen Christelijk Nederland.
In maart 2017 releaste Jildou haar debuut-CD “Openhartig”, opgenomen bij TCC-studios in Veenendaal. De dertien luisterliedjes op dit album zijn geïnspireerd op de verhalen die Jildou om zich heen hoort en ziet en hoe God daar een rol in speelt. Sinds de release van Openhartig is Jildou maandelijks op pad door Nederland om optredens te doen in kerkdiensten, op bruiloften, festivals, in huiskamers en bij radiostations.

Ongeveer een jaar later, in mei 2018, bracht Jildou haar eerste Single uit. Het lied “Door de straten” gaat over liefde en het verlangen naar een hechte relatie en is onder andere in de vorm van een videoclip terug te vinden op YouTube.

In september 2018 startte Jildou met de vooropleiding van Compositie en Muziekproducties aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium te Groningen, waar zij een jaar later werd aangenomen tot de vierjarige Bachelor opleiding. Tijdens deze studie concentreert zij zich op de hoofdvakken songwriting, compositie, toegepaste compositie en studioproductie. Met deze studie heeft Jildou een verbreding gemaakt van een Songwriter tot een veelzijdig “muziekbedenker”. Jildou bleef schrijven over verhalen en onderwerpen die er toe doen, zo schreef zij tijdens haar studie o.a. bijvoorbeeld het veelal productioneel en elektronisch stuk “De Vloed” over dementie, een stuk voor strijkkwartet geïnspireerd op tinnitus (oorsuizen), een song geïnspireerd op het overlijden van George Floyd in 2020. In de laatste twee jaar van haar opleiding zal Jildou zich specialiseren in de hoofdvakken songwriting en productie.

In april 2019 schreef Jildou het lied “Together”, een pop/country song, in opdracht voor jongerenorganisatie “Serve Together”, een organisatie die jongeren wil motiveren om iets te betekenen voor de kwetsbare mensen in de samenleving. “Together” werd ook gereleased als Jildou haar tweede single.

In 2020 tot heden volgden Jildou haar laatste singles “Ik Mis Je”, “De Stroom”, “Laat Me Los” en “Minnesota Sky”, allen als resultaat van opdrachten die ze via het Conservatorium deed.

Momenteel concentreert Jildou zich o.a. op haar project “The Caterpillar Project” onder welke ze haar eigen liedjes, die zijn voortgekomen uit opdrachten voor het Conservatorium, uitbrengt. Daarnaast is zij veel bezig met optreden in kerken en kerkdiensten en op allerlei verschillende gelegenheden. Jildou Silke Bakker is born and raised in Friesland, a province in the Netherlands. When she was a little girl, she already started writing her thoughts out in poems and stories. When she was a kid, she started taking guitar lessons and soon she wrote the first music to her poems, which became her first original songs. She was often inspired by her belief in God and by the stories of people around her.

After highschool, Jildou decided to concentrate on her songwriting and musical career. Her (Dutch) songs gained attention in the Christian scene in the Netherlands very quickly.
In March 2017 Jildou released her Debute CD “Openhartig”, recorded at TCC Studios at Veenendaal. The thirteen “singer-songwriter” songs on this album are inspired by the stories of people around you and how God plays a role in our lives. Ever since the release of “Openhartig”, Jildou travels through the Netherlands every month to do performances at churches, on weddings, at fistivals, in livingrooms and at radio stations.

About a year later, in May 2018, Jildou released her first single. The song “Door De Straten” is about love and the desire of a close relationship. It has also been released as a videoclip on YouTube.

In September 2018 Jildou started the preliminary education of the study “Composition- and Musicproduction” at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where she started a year later with the Bachelor study which contains four years. During this education, Jildou concentrates on the main subjects Songwriting, Composition, Composition for film and media and Studio Production. With this education Jildou broadened herself to be a versatile music creator. Jildou kept writing about stories and subjects that matter. For example she wrote the mostly electronical and productional song “De Vloed” about people who are dement, a piece for stringquartet about tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and a song inspired by the death of George Floyd in 2020. In the last years of her education, Jildou will mainly specialize herself in the subjects songwriting and production.

In April 2019 Jildou wrote the song “Together”, a pop/country song, In april 2019 schreef Jildou het lied “Together”, een pop/country song, written for the youth organisation “Serve Together”, an organization which wants to motivate youth to do something good for the vulnerable people in society. “Together” was also released as Jildou’s second single.

In 2020 and 2021, Jildou released two new singles “Ik Mis Je”, “De Stroom”, “Laat Me Los” and “Minnesota Sky”, all resulting from assignments she did for her education on the Conservatoire.

At the moment, Jildou concentrates among other things on her project “The Caterpillar Project”, which she created to release new songs which were born through assignments she did for her study at the Conservatoire.
